On June 5 the Garden hosts World Environment Day with the theme "CO2 - Kick the Habit Towards a Low Carbon Economy," featuring ideas, green expertise and fun ways to lower your carbon footprint. There will also be family-friendly activities along with presentations by local and national organizations in the areas of food, shelter, energy, education, transportation and public awareness. The weekend of June 7 and 8, the Chicago Botanic Garden Wine Festival celebrates wine, food and music. Learn from the experts at seminars and demonstrations conducted by event sponsors, exhibiting wineries, Chicago area chefs, restaurateurs, and specialty food shops. Blues on the North Shore Blues on the North Shore

A Celebration Marking the 25th Anniversary of Chicago's Blues Festival, Blues on the North Shore features four generations of blues musicians from four of Chicago's Blues Record labels, all of whom will take the stage in an evening filled with culture, history and plain old feel it in your soul blues! A portion of proceeds from the concert, which pays special tribute to Chicago's Blues Legend and 2008 Grammy Award Winner David "Honeyboy" Edwards, will go to The Blue Shoe Project. Proceeds will also support the Maxwell Street Foundation's restoration of the Blues Bus, while helping fund blues education programming for schools, and lifelong learning for seniors in the North Shore. Doors open at 7:00 pm. The concert starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door ($15 for students). All proceeds from the Little City Used Book Sale are used to provide programs, services, opportunities and lots of smiles for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Two wheelers, tricycles, big wheels, strollers and wheel chairs will all be part of the first-ever Children's Pedal Parade taking place on Saturday, June 7 at Westfield Old Orchard beginning at 9:45a.m. This family event is part of the annual "Pedal For Wishes" bicycle tour, which raises funds that grant wishes for local children with life-threatening medical conditions through the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois. Families are encouraged to come early to decorate their ‘wheels' at the Make-A-Wish Decoration Station, located at the Make-A-Wish Foundation tent in the west parking lot near Golf Road and Lawler Avenue. At 9:45 am Skokie Mayor George Van Dusen will blow a whistle to officially start the fun. The procession begins and ends at the tent and will travel through the center's Serpent Play Area. Celebrate Father's Day and head on out to the North Shore Car Show which features classic and vintage models, as well as a NASCAR simulator! This event, which kicks off on Father's Day, is also being held on Sunday, July 20 and Sunday, August 17 (11 am to 8 pm). Visitors and assigned judges will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite car to determine winners in a variety of categories. The cars will be parked in Navy Park and dispersed along Tower Drive (the Glen's main "drag"). Refreshments and entertainment will be available. Admission is free and open to the public. Also this summer, come enjoy Summer Sounds at the Glen. Every Tuesday from now through August 26 (4 pm to 9 pm), stop by Navy Park (2671 Navy Blvd.) to enjoy live music and delicious fare from the Glen's restaurants.
