Sunday, April 6 - 2 pm
Wilmette Historical museum
609 Ridge Road, Wilmette
The public is invited to attend the opening of three new exhibits at the Wilmette Historical Society. The first, "Wilmette in Wartime," shares stories of Wilmette and the North Shore in wartime, from the Civil War through World War II. The second, "Over the Top: Fashions of the Great War Era, 1914-1919" allows you to experience fashion's lost era, when hobble skirts, funnel collars, and "war crinolines" were all the rage, creating bizarre silhouettes that would never occur again. And the third, "Lost Wilmette" invites you to learn the fate of once familiar buildings that have vanished from Wilmette's landscape. The opening event is free and refreshments will be served. For more information, call 847-853-7666 or visit www.wilmettehistory.org.
